What does call pricing depend on?

Every call’s total cost is the sum of five components across three parts. Part A - Voice AI (STT + LLM + TTS)

Transcriber

Your choice of Speech-to-Text (STT) model and provider.Billed by call duration (rounded to seconds).

LLM

Your choice of Large Language Model (LLM) and provider.Billed by tokens generated.

Text to speech (TTS)

Your choice of TTS model and provider.Billed by characters synthesized.
Part B & C - Telephony and Platform

Telephony provider

Your telephony provider and the country/region of the phone numbers.Billed by call duration (rounded to minutes).

Bolna platform fee

A flat per-minute fee charged by Bolna on top of your provider costs.Billed by call duration.

Which models are included in my rate?

Every workspace’s flat per-minute rate already bundles a curated set of ASR, LLM, and TTS models — Bolna calls these your preferred models. Using only preferred models keeps your Voice AI cost at the flat rate; picking any other model bills that component separately at variable, usage-based rates.

How can I reduce my voice AI costs?

You can significantly reduce costs by connecting your own provider accounts. When you bring your own keys (BYOK), Bolna does not charge for those components. You only pay your providers directly, plus Bolna’s platform fee.

Connect your provider accounts

Head to Settings → Integrations to link your own telephony, LLM, TTS, STT and tool accounts.

Choose cost-efficient models

Lighter LLM models (e.g. gpt-4o-mini) and efficient TTS voices can meaningfully lower per-call costs.

Choose a volume plan

For predictable workloads, a volume-based plan offers better per-minute rates than pay-as-you-go. See available tiers at bolna.ai/pricing.

BYOK on the basic plan

On the Basic plan, the flat per-minute rate bundles Bolna-paid STT, LLM, and TTS. If your own key serves any one of these components on a call, that call is billed on base token pricing instead of the flat per-minute rate. This applies whether you bring one, two, or all three.
  • Your BYOK components: billed directly by your provider, not by Bolna.
  • Remaining Bolna-provided components: billed at base usage rates (transcription by duration, LLM by tokens, TTS by characters).
  • Telephony and platform fee: charged as usual.
Other plans keep their negotiated rate regardless of BYOK, except when all three of STT, LLM, and TTS run on your own keys. In that case the bundled rate doesn’t apply and you pay only the platform fee, plus telephony if you use Bolna-hosted numbers.

Where can I see my call costs?

After each conversation, go to the Call History page to see what the conversation cost. The summary cards show Total Cost and Avg Cost for the selected agent and date range, and each execution row has its own Cost column.
